Twelve-Mile Reef. Bazaruto Archipelago Mozambique.12 nautical miles north of Bazaruto, this is a large, six-mile-long reef which can only be dived in calm weather. Depths vary from 18 to 28 metres Unusually large numbers of Palette surgeonfish and Natal knifejaw are seen there as well as huge schools of pelagics. It's one of the best places in Mozambique to see mantas, sailfish, marlin and various sharks

The Palette Surgeonfish (Paracanthurus hepatus) is found in the Indo Pacific fromEast Africa to the Line Islands, North to southern Japan, South to the southern Great Barrier Reef, New Caledonia, and Samoa. Throughout Micronesia. Also known in the Gilbert Islands. (Kiribati) and Mariana Isands.
