They are so called because of the diversity of corals in the coral garden there. Abundant fish include parrotfish and morays

Michels Place
|
|
A deeper dive is at 38m which has flat corals with lots of clownfish and tigerfish. Green and Hawksbill turtles are common.

Casiers
|
|
A flat reef where shoals of barracuda, kingfish and surgeonfish are usually encountered.
|
|
Needle Hall
|
|
A shallow dive (14-18m). Magnificent corals, swarms of fish like sergeants majors, goldier and surgeonfish. Excellent visibility makes for exceptional conditions for underwater photography

The West Coast
|

Aquarium
|
|
Is a rocky reef area with plenty of angelfish, kingfish and butterfly fish plus lots of wire coral. Watch out for the stonefish. It goes to 15m. This is a site where night dives are conducted for experienced divers.

The Cathedral
|
|
Is a huge underwater cave in which lionfish, kingfish and squirrelfish are common.
|
|
Mana
|
|
A deep dive of 47m on rock faces. Impressive emperor angelfish, white tipped reef shark and shoals of game fish are present.
|
|
Rempart L'Herbe
|
|
A place where one is almost guaranteed sharks, rays and barracuda. It is a deep dive (42-50m), on a pinnacle with steep slopes. Other big fish like wahoo, tuna and large rays usually seen, as are white tipped reef sharks which congregate in this place. Hammerheads too, may be seen.

Canon
|
|
The site is a 19th century shipwreck, which lies at 22m.
|

The North-West Coast
|
|
Due to strong currents, these are mainly drift dives with the boat following the divers.
|

Tortoise
|
|
Is at 13m. Lots of morays, octopus and lionfish are found on these flat reefs.
|
|
Coral Gardens
|
|
Which starts at 18m, consists of coral banks between which are sand gullies. Commonly seen are squirrelfish, trumpetfish and goldies.
|

Perrybeer
|
|
For beginners, a good option tropical reef fish abound as do moray eels.
|
|
Merville Patches
|
|
Also good for beginners, this starts at 10m, in a lovely lagoon with finger coral lots of small tropical reef fish, lionfish and morays too. The site known as Malene is known for its shell life at about 20m. The deadly venomous cone seashells, are among the many beautiful seashells present there. Night dives off Grand Bay are excellent.

The East Coast

The Passe
|
|
One of Mauritius' best dives is where you drift dive through the passes with the current past psychedelic tapestries of coral and reef fishes. It is at 17m.
|
|
Grouper Hill
|
|
Three pinnacles in a sand area at 25-31m. Plenty of impressive black coral and gorgonians rock cod and kingfish.
|
|
Whale Rock
|
|
Is reached by boat from Trou aux Biches or Merville, a dramatic seascape at 27m depth
|

Cathedral
|
|
An archway and cave off the coast of Flic en Flac
|

Zoo
|
|
Off the southeast coast of Blue Bais Roche is Zoo, a spectacular underwater rock accessible only in summer.
